As a student, things can get pretty hectic. As summer slowly comes to an end, back to school season is approaching. This means returning to a routine, early mornings, copious amounts of coffee, and sleepless nights.
It's so easy to be on a constant stressful roller coaster that we simply forget to breathe. This school year, I'm making the conscious decision to not let stress get the best of me. I’ve decided to make the conscious decision to not forget to breathe. When you're so busy worrying about next, next, next it’s easy to get caught up in a whirlwind.
At one point, you've got to unwind. Below I've compiled 3 tips on how I attempt to keep sane throughout the week.
1. Drink Tea. If anyone knows me, they know I'm obsessed with tea. It's amazing how much a cup of tea can go a long way. Recently, I've discovered a holy grail. The tea brand yogi is my go-to choice of drink after a long day. The honey lavender or kava stress relief tea promotes relaxation and soothes tension. I've always been practically suspicious of such claims, so take it from a usual skeptic when I say that this stuff works. One cup of tea instantaneously has me feeling relaxed and ready for a great night’s sleep.
When you catch yourself feeling overwhelmed, stop for a second.
2. Deep Breaths. When you're so busy being occupied, it's easy to forget how to breathe. As surprising as this may sound, one can easily have a hard time feeling as if they're losing their breath when they're constantly bombarded by life’s hectic duties. I try to take deep breaths throughout my day. When you catch yourself feeling overwhelmed, stop for a second. Think about your breathing and control your breathing. Recognize where it hurts when you breathe. Then make the conscious decision to eliminate that blockage.
3. Pray. Not too long ago I wrote about the power of prayer. Talking to Him can change your life. This is not a cliché or a drawn out claim, but rather the truth. Ask Him for ways that your life can be improved. Ask Him to surround yourself with positive people and positive vibes. When you ask, He listens.
